So tell me...

...why aren't you telling me what you think? I know...yes, I KNOW that there are a select few (very few) of you who read this here little thing called a blog and don't comment--it's called lurking, people. If you did this in public you'd be called 'rude', but this is cyberspace and evidently every thing is permitted. However, tonight I am calling you to task. I want to know why you're so quiet. Now, don't get me wrong, I like quiet and all, but you should not simply lurk forever, one might question your upbringing.

Here's the assignment: in one sentence or more tell me what prevents you from putting that little floating thought that you're thinking into writing here. Simple huh?

I'm waiting...

(those of you that normally comment are free to chime in and make your astute observations as normal, of course!
)

Well, that worked like a charm didn't it??

I often wonder, too, who is reading at my place...and why they don't comment. I've always thought it would be fun for EVERYONE who is reading to say something, if just 'hello'.

As for me, I happen to like it here and think you're pretty neat. That's why I lurk here! :-)

Lurkers get power from thinking no one knows they are lurking. False power...but it makes them think they know something...the powerless feel powerful. It is a dark power though. Like a peeping Tom feels dark power and even contempt while they peep. The rest call it something different.

Some just like it that you don't know that they know. It makes them feel superior somehow.

Me: I like to "lurk before I leep". Mom taught me that.

Got to run....spy on my neighbors BBQ party and listen in on their conversations. Dumbies..don't even know I'm there:-)

BTW: I have a Anti-counter-anti-spy software installed. It shows everyone who reads anything that I type or who Googles me or even thinks about thinking about thing about me. Names and email addresses. It's cool. They don't know I have it. Ha. Show them! $29.95 at TechWhere.bug

I'll lurk you up later.

Later...you should smell the BBQ! Mark

I have to disagree with Mark about the "power" thing. A person's only a "peeping Tom" per se if they know you in person and don't tell you they're reading. That kind of lurking is kind of creepy.

When we put our writing out to the public, if it is good (as yours is--very good), we find readers. Not all are necessarily fellow bloggers who will comment, but just readers. When we enjoy a novel or a magazine article, we don't automatically write to the author. If we're going to put our writing out for the public, we have to be curious, but comfortable with and respectful of our silent readers.

Just my opinion.

I agree with Mcswain! But I can't tell what Jon is thinking right now. Jon can you get closer to your monitor. Ah there you are....

Hey. Cool and Of course..... I would lurk to have a beer with you. How long have you been thinking about that?

Now I'm getting silly. Except for the beer part....

lurk you up later Jon.

Mark

Mark--I'll have a margarita down here in SoCal in your honor. I'd have a beer, but just can't make myself like it. I probably would like Cabelas though.

Hey John, where's Mark's blog? I think he's got a lot to say, and he needs one, don't you? Maybe you could discuss that over your cold one.

Hey I am making time to actually comment just for you...feel special lol I usually don't comment because honestly I don't have time. I am trying to raise three kids alone and when I finally have time to read blogs it is bedtime for them and typing is too loud:-P So there lol

Thank you barbie for taking the time...I totally 'get' the typing too loud thing. When my boys go to bed I hardly ever clunk away on the keyboard either. It's as if it's suddenly ten times louder than normal.
